A One-Of-A-Kind Experience – Garden Gourmet
The first-ever pop-up restaurant in Bangladesh, Garden Gourmet, by S&S Cuisineurs, started on Dec 7, and is open for three months, set on a spectacular outdoor setting on an approximately four bigha vacant land at the capital’s Madani Avenue. From the couple, Shezan Shams and Sigma Mehdi, the brainchild behind this new venture, the initiation were to build an outdoor restaurant which will allow the customers to have a fine dining experience in nature, at the same time in luxury and comfort.
The setting is made with the concept of a glasshouse to have an overall chic garden experience. Abstract cutouts are made out of mirrors and floral printed sheets, while furnishing includes wooden chairs upholstered with different coloured leather seats that match with the theme, and to add the extra glam, chandeliers and spotlights have been installed at intervals. “When it comes to the décor, people’s expectations with Sygmaz are set to be high standard, so I had to think of a unique way of building the structure as it was outdoor and for us event planners, the weather is the biggest concern. Since it is in the middle of the coldest days of the year, I had to make it semi-outdoor so you can have a long ceiling with half outdoor/indoor experience,” shares Sigma. “There is a corner of hanging dessert section which I thought is very uniquely imagined. You will feel like you are inside a forest with a lot of trees while you are enjoying a hot ‘gulab jamun’, I know how great it feels, saying from my own experience” she continued.
Since the context is of garden-theme, green grass carpet is used and ceilings have yellow printed cutouts with birds on it. To add some colours, the design team added colourful flowers, but the most interesting feature has to be the round cutouts of Peacocks, at the middle of the glasshouse and all over the place. To complement this majestic décor, absolute well thought and finest buffet spread has been catered by Shezan, who is overseeing each minute detail of the food offerings and cuisines, made by specialized chef experts. From mocktails to hot beverages to famous ‘matki cha’ serving in ‘matkis’, to the core meals spreading oriental sections and continental sections, region based Indian food stations – from ‘Lahori’ to ‘Lucknowi to ‘Punjabi’, serving ‘neharis’, ‘biriyanis’, and a lot, countless more cuisines and stations are being served in the premise.
“We wanted to create something that will give people an experience of fulfillment. That will arouse positive energy and good feel among people, let it be even for a couple of hours so that they can be away from all their stress and on-going tough situations around,” says Shezan.
“In Garden Gourmet, we aim to bring something new each day in the cuisine and the décor, delivering an ultimate exhilarant experience”.
